Hi

Me and my mate Tim has always wanted to do a campaign of some sort, and after i started to build my Carthaginian army to Hail-Caesar, then we desided to try to find a board game that could be used for the strategic part of the campaign.
I started to search on the web and found this great game.....

Hannibal Rome vs Carthage.

We are planing to play the board game as it is but when two army´s meet insted of use the battle cards in the game we will use miniatures to fight insted.

I will give you more info on the planned 2nd punic war campaign later.

Balearic Slingers

As soon as i read the army list for Carthage in the Hail-Caesar book Biblical & Classical army lists,
i became interested in the Balearic slingers.
I started to search on the net for any thing on Balearic slingers and i found out that they we´re one of the best slingers in the ancient world.

Livy also mentions the most famous of ancient skillful slingers: the people of the Balearic Islands. Of these people Strabo writes: And their training in the use of slings used to be such, from childhood up, that they would not so much as give bread to their children unless they first hit it with the sling.

I hope you like my slingers as much as i do....

More Stuff

Got some more stuff in the mail a few days ago, and now after i have assembled and painted 48 of my libyan heavy infantry its time to get the new stuff out.
It can get very boring just to paint the same models over and over soo a need a break from my libyans.

I ordered a Celtic cavalry unit, and a Numidian cavalry unit, and a blister of Balearic slingers

I think i start with the Balearic slingers....

Hail-Caesar Test Game: Rome vs Carthage

Hi

During the end of last week me and my mate Tim play a test  game of Hail-Caesar.
Tim played the Romans and i play the Carthaginians.
As you may see we only have small unit on the game table...  didnt have time to paint up any more.

Tim got the first move, but his Romans didnt get to the top of the hill.

The Romans finally got to the top of the hill but then they got charged by the Carthaginian heavy infantry.

The Romans take up defensive position close to the hill....  the Celts allied to carthage advance.

One Celtic unit moves around the forest and flanks the Romans.

One of the Libyan heavy infantry units pushes one of the Roman hastati units back down the hill.

The Libyan heavy infantry on the hill is destroyed but the Roman hastati unit.

Ontop of the hill both the Carthaginians and the Roman units left disengage due to heavy losses on both sides.
But the Celtiberian Celts manage to rout the Roman unit left defending the side of the hill.

END GAME

In the end a small but Pyrric Victory for Carthage.

It was fun to have a test game so soon after starting my new Project to building a Carthaginian army to Hail-Caesar.
Both me and Tim had a great time... so i hope that we can have a game soon.

First Painted Libyan Heavy Infantry

I have now assembled and painted some of my Libyan heavy infantry.
The models are from the box of Mercenary armoured hoplites from Victrix, and the shield transfers i orderd from crusader miniature.
The only problem with the transfers is that they are made to fit the shield of the Carthaginian models from crusader miniatures not the Victrix ones, soo they are a bit small...

As you can see the shield look ok from this range...

But here you can see that they are to small :(

Hope you like the first of my Libyan infantry.

Allied Celtic Warband

I am finally done with the painting of my Allied Celtic warband.
I thinks its much harder to paint celts then to paint other army´s for the celts got lots of different colors on them.
Three of the celts got bear skin on there backs made of green stuff just to make this Celtic unit different then my first painted Celtic unit.
33 models in total and i think they turned out ok.... what do you think?

I will us them as allies to my Carthaginian army.
